Animal Parables

Animal Stories From The Bible

Ask the animals and they will teach you.

Starting with the 5th day of creation, God created the entire animal kingdom. From Genesis on, the Bible is filled with stories that prominently include animals as active participants in His plan, and for illustration purposes. These animal stories present a tremendous opportunity to introduce the Bible and share the Gospel.

This site provides an overview of the animal stories found in your Bible, and lists links to Christian animal stories to read online. To get the most out of this site, read each post, and carefully consider the Scripture references. Each post is grouped by animal type, and also Old Testament and New Testament.

The theme for this site can be found in Job 12:7, where Job responds to his friends telling them, “Ask the animals and they will teach you.” The animal kingdom knows the Creator. And just as humanity suffered from the curse, they have endured much waiting for the time when the Earth is restored. They also know their source, and don’t worry. (Matthew 6:25-26)

God created all the animals.

Animals play an important part in the Bible narrative. And God has shown from His Word His love of all creatures. Jesus makes it clear that nothing surprises God, and no detail is too small for His attention.

What is the price of two sparrows–one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.
(Matthew 10:29 <NLT>)

In Psalm 104, God is praised for His tender care. And if you think about the complexities of feeding millions, if not billions of creatures, it is a task worthy of high praise.

All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. (Psalm 104:27-28 <NIV>)

Man was the crown jewel of creation. Made in the image of God, he was given dominion over the Earth and all of creation. God brought every animal to Adam, and whatever Adam called it, that was its name. This was more than just coming up with a creative sounding name. This was Adam, in partnership with His Heavenly Father, charting the destiny for every creature.

And out of the ground the Lord God formed every [wild] beast and living creature of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name. (Genesis 2:19 <AMP>)

There was a time when man and the animals lived together in peace, enjoying this beautiful planet that God had created just for them. For a time, things have been catawampus. But one day soon, everything will be restored. Once again it will be Heaven on Earth.
